WEATHER

A good route on a rainy day

Plan around shelter, daylight and a comfortable way home.

Shorten the distance

Choose a compact route with several places where you can pause under cover. Check local opening times independently before relying on a building for shelter. Avoid committing to a long exposed section if the weather may worsen, and leave enough daylight for the return.

Protect the things that matter

Keep paper notes and electronics in a dry inner pocket. A simple waterproof layer is often more convenient than managing an umbrella on a narrow path. Pay attention to slippery leaves, painted road markings and uneven paving. Turn back if conditions stop being comfortable.

Notice a different city

Rain changes reflections, colours and sound. Look for a dry, safe place to stop before taking photographs. After returning, let shoes and bags dry with airflow and check that damp items have not been forgotten inside pockets.
